The worst thing about Pietermaritzburg is not its unpredictable weather and extreme temperature changes. So what is it then?
This morning my travelling friend Sershan wanted me to accompany him across the road to McDonalds - he was craving a Mc-D breakfast! As we got off the warm car and out of the basement parking it was 'frisky' cold - the weather bureau said it was 16 degrees in PMB today. So what is the worst thing about a Pmb morning . . . Its the pungent smell of urine . . . You just can't escape it! It hits you straight up the nostrils and down your lungs. You just can't ignore it. It messes with your mind! Eissshhhh - Warrapen Pieter? Rest In Peace.
Who concocted this phrase? I wonder . . . Did he not know that this is the end of that body? Genesis 2.7 (KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 3:19 (King James Version): In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Is Rest In Peace corrected or is REST in Pieces? Almost all matter is made up of CHON - Carbon; Hydrogen; Oxygen & Nitrogen = dust. So when the body decays and disintegrates the particles go back and meet their old friends - other dust particles. I like what Carl Sagan said - 'we made of the same stuff as the stars'. I like what one guru said - 'we are like a drop of water - we can't get in the ocean and say to the other drops - 'Hey - dont touch me!'. |
